The Fur Children

1. Aramina (We call her Boo Boo) - Seriously, what black cat isn't called Boo Boo for short?
Where did she come from: Cat shelter when Eric and I first moved in together. My brother picked her out, but I like to think she picked us.
Her likes: Crunchy cat treats and toy mice.
Her dislikes: Everyone but her mother (what can I say?).

2. Sir Walter - He was named "Mister Walter," but we knighted him at arrival.
Where did he come from: A good friend of Eric's because he was bullying her female cats. We should have known!
His likes: The outdoors and not listening (especially when he is getting yelled at).
His dislikes: Being kept indoors.

3. Artemis (We call her Poo Poo).
Where did she come from: Someone from the veterinary hospital I was working at dropped her off at 10 days old. Yes, she is a bottle fed baby and all the issues that come with that type of cat.
Her likes: Eating hair elastics and shoelaces, cuddling.
Her dislikes: Anything against her will. She needs to be sedated to get her blood drawn at the vets - that should tell you right there!

4. Aurora. We call her Aurora.
Where did she come from: the local animal shelter in Northeast, CT. She had been at the pound for a LONG time (about three years). She had to have all her teeth removed and needed a tune up. The adoption for her fell through and I just couldn't let her go back there. Turns out too, she is not four like they thought, but about fourteen. Who wants to die in prison?
Her likes: Her fish flakes and a lot of love. I think she likes it here!
Her dislikes: Her brothers and sisters. She is an "only" cat and has her own room.

5. Quill. We call him Quill.
Where did he come from: He was a hit by cat stray. He had some head issues, a broken jaw, and a broken canine. He was cleaned up, jaw wired back together, and tooth removed. He is our "special" kitty.
His likes: His routine and food.
His dislikes: Change, of ANY kind!

6. Captain Jack. We call him Jack or Mister Mister!
Where did he come from: He was at the clinic to be euthanized because he was "temperamental." He is the biggest love I have ever known, so I said, "NOPE!" He came home with us and the rest is history! He is our Buddha Kitty because he likes to roll on his back and get his belly rubbed. All the time.
His likes: Running from one end of the house to the other. For no other reason except he is high on life.
His dislikes: Being pet for longer than he thinks is tolerable. That’s where the "temperamental" thing comes in. We have learned his limits.

7. Odin. We call him, "Don’t eat that!"
Where did he come from: We found him on our doorstep at about four months old when we moved up here. Literally. And he certainly wasn't a barn cat. Too friendly and knew the house. I refrain from judging the previous tenants, but…
His likes: Eat everything that can't be nailed to the table.
His dislikes: When I pick out his eyes and nose boogers.

8. Brogan. We call him Gander. "What is good for the goose, is good for the Bro-Gander."
Where did he come from: He was a turnover at a hospital I was working at. He had parvo and the previous owners could not afford to treat him. Thank goodness, because he is the love of my life. He is the true definition of Labrador Retriever.
His likes: His ball and digging through the trash can.
His dislikes: Not being thrown the ball and getting yelled at for digging through the trash can.

9. Chevy. We call her Chevy, Chev Chev, and "Get the f*** back over here."
Where did she come from: She comes from Connecticut to live with her younger brother Brogan and run for miles in the North Country. She loves the country!
Her likes: To bark for no reason and to eat other animals poop.
Her dislikes: Being denied other animals poop.

In addition to our family above, we have had countless cats (and one other dog) that we have fostered - from bottle feeding kittens (my absolute favorite thing to do) to temporary housing and in the case of the other dog, paid to have surgery on an infected broken leg and sent him to his forever home. I hope to get all of their updated information and share with you all their stories in the future!
